France Defeats Greece in Euro 2024 Qualifier, Thanks to Mbappe's Penalty Kick

The French team dominated Group B with 12 points from four games, maintaining a clean sheet and a six-point lead over Greece. This victory follows their 3-0 triumph over Gibraltar last Friday. In the match against Greece, Mbappe's initial penalty kick was saved by Greek goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos. This goal marked his 13th in 13 games for France this season, in addition to 41 goals in all competitions for PSG.
With 40 goals in 70 games for his country, Mbappe is just one goal shy of equaling Michel Platini's record in a French shirt. Greece, the 2004 European champions, experienced a resurgence under Uruguayan coach Gustavo Poyet but were unable to overcome France's prowess in this match.
Despite playing with an extra man after Greece's Konstantinos Mavropanos was sent off in the 69th minute, France did not extend their lead. Nevertheless, the victory secured their place in the Euro 2024 tournament, where they will aim to continue their impressive form.
